Presentation Awards:

The International Society of Electrochemistry will award the Best Oral and Best Poster presentations given by PhD students and young researchers up to the age of 30. More details in the page Conference Awards.

Dr. Claes-Göran Granqvist, born in Helsingborg (Sweden) in 1946, is Emeritus Professor at the Department of Engineering Sciences of The Ångström Laboratory of Uppsala University (Uppsala, Sweden).
He received the degree of Master in Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology (Gothenburg) in 1970 and the degree of Ph.D. in Physics from the same institution in 1974.
He was Post-doctoral Associate at Cornell University, U.S.A., in 1975 and between 1976 and 1989 hold research positions at Chalmers University of Technology. From 1989 to 1993 he was Full Professor of Experimental Physics at Gothenburg University. In 1993 he became Full/Senior/Emeritus Professor of Solid State Physics at Uppsala University. Responsibilities held at university level include Vice Rector/Senior Advisor for External and International Affairs of Uppsala University (1997-2006).
His major research fields include: (1) Nanomaterials; (2) Selective absorption of solar energy; (3) Materials for radiative cooling; (4) Transparent infrared reflectors and transparent conductors; (5) Semiconductor materials, particularly heavily doped ones; (6) Electrochromic materials and devices, especially for smart windows; (7) Thermochromic materials; (8) Infrared absorption; (9) Optical properties of particles and metal-insulator composites; (10) Materials for gas sensors and photo-catalysis.
He has authored/co-authored about 600 scientific papers in refereed journals, and approximately 40 titles in books, proceeding and other volumes. He has given more than 250 talks and chaired more than 30 international meetings, mainly on solar energy materials. He has given lectures in Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America, and Australia.
He holds the Honorary Doctorate attributed by Universidad Nacional Ingeniería, Lima (Peru), the Honorary Membership of the Materials Research Society of India and is a Fellow of the International Society of Optical Engineering.
He has received numerous prizes and awards, including the 2015 Jan Czochralski Award. He belongs to the editorial board of several scientific journals. He is a Member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, and Regia Societas Scientarium Upsaliensis.
He founded ChromoGenics Sweden AB.
