Conference Best
Presentation Awards:

The International Society of Electrochemistry will award the Best Oral and Best Poster presentations given by PhD students and young researchers up to the age of 30. More details in the page Conference Awards.

Conference Accommodation Grants:

The Hyceltec 2017 Organizing Committee will offer some accommodation grants to a number of presenting PhD students up to the age of 30. More details in the page Conference Awards.

Dr. Manuel Alvarez-Guerra finished his studies in Chemical Engineering at Universidad de Cantabria (Santander, Spain) in 2005, where he then obtained his Master (2008) and PhD (2010) in Chemical Engineering.
During his PhD he carried out research stays in the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) and in Imperial College London (UK). After finishing the PhD, Dr. Alvarez-Guerra joined the DEPRO research group of Universidad de Cantabria headed by Prof. A. Irabien to start the postdoctoral work starting a new line of research focused on CO2 valorization. His postdoctoral research interests also included the modeling of ionic liquids, particularly for estimating their ecotoxicity and thermodynamic properties. Current research activity is mainly focused on the development of innovative processes for the electrochemical conversion of CO2 in products of interest, such as formic acid/ formate.
Since 2016 he is Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering of Universidad de Cantabria (UC), where he teaches in several subjects of Degree and Master in Chemical Engineering and he is involved in different teaching innovation activities.
Among other management and institutional responsibilities, Dr. Alvarez-Guerra has been Founding Member, Vice-Secretary and Vice-President of the Association of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering of Cantabria (AQUIQÁN), elected member of the UC Faculty Committee, and Vice-Director of the Department of Chemical Engineering of UC.
